Question: What is the attitude of one who has given in to you?

God’s answer:

Be passive
“Do whatever You have to do.
Do with Me as You will.”

Question: God, please help me surrender myself to You.

God’s answer:

I am not asking you to surrender. Surrender is a feeling of defeat. I am asking you to accept. Acceptance is the eagerness to receive.

Meaning: We often say “surrender everything to God”. The right phrase is “offer yourself to God.”

Here we see the why God uses I GIVE IN and not I GIVE UP. GIVING UP is to accept defeat. When people give up, they stop doing what they are doing. GIVING IN is to offer oneself willingly to God. This is why God said: “You don’t trouble yourself. You throw your hands up in the air.” This means handing over everything to God, with a complete and all- encompassing trust.

Oftentimes, people are mistaken that when they say “ God, I’m leaving everything to you.” they have given in. Whether one’s statement is GIVING UP or GIVING IN lies in the attitude behind the statement --- that attitude is one of trust. Without trust, “I’m leaving everything to you” means you have adopted a wait and see attitude. When you say this with trust, you are willing to go with whatever God wants and wherever He leads you.

Let me explain this the way God did.

Question: You said that I must let my self go. What does this mean?

God’s answer:

To trust Me and not your self.
You trust My instincts

Question: Please elaborate.

God’s answer:

I know where you are going. You don’t.
You are sure about Me. You don’t give up on Me at every turn. You just Go. You do what you are told.

Question: Why can’t I let my self go?

God’s answer:

You still think you need your self.

Question: In this context ,what does needing one’s self mean?

God’s answer:

Propositions
You have what if scenarios.

Meaning: Giving in to God is to constantly take leaps of faith, big ones and small one. We have to trust that He knows what He is doing and we let life unfold never for a moment doubting Him.

It is the presence of doubt that keeps us from giving in. Our self- preservation instinct kicks in and we start brewing countless alternative plans of what we will do should things not work out with God. When this happens, we have a tendency to doubt God at every turn along the way.
